OVERVIEW- Shantiniketan was founded by Maharishi Debendranath Tagore, father of Rabindranath Tagore, who also established an ashram here, later known as the Abode of Peace. In 1901, his son started an experimental place of learning with a classroom under the trees and a group of five pupils. This place later became to be known as Vishva Bharati University in 1921 which attracts students from all over the world and aspires to be a spiritual meeting ground in a serene, culturally rich and artistic environment. Today, Shantiniketan is a great centre for higher studies in arts and known for the famous Vishva Bharati University. The whole place is steeped in the memory of the great poet, Rabindranath Tagore.

SHANTINIKETAN- Positioned in the serene land of Bolpur in Birbhum District, Shantiniketan is an amazing and tranquil place that displays ideal harmony of humanity with nature. Built by famous poet and noble prize winner Rabindra Nath Tagore, Shantiniketan is a perfect place for the tourists in search of calmness and cultural extravaganza.

DAY 1: KOLKATA - SHANTINIKETAN

Welcome to Kolkata Airport/Station and today drive to the amazing place Shantiniketan. Transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or you can go for a leisure walk around the place.

DAY 2: SHANTINIKETAN

TAGORE'S ASHRAM- Known as Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore's abode, Tagore's Ashram is one of the must visit places in Santiniketan. It was founded in 1863 by his father, Maharishi Devendranath Tagore. A heritage site well preserved by the authorities, this place is a giant mark left by our beloved Gurudev. 

VISHVA BHARATI UNIVERSITY- Vishva Bharati University was founded by Rabindranath Tagore in 1921. In this university, the classes are held in the open-air, which is very unique. There are faculties in all major disciplines and the humanities and performing arts dominate over the philosophy, Sanskrit, art, Indian music and drama. 

UTTARAYAN COMPLEX- The Uttarayan Complex where the poet, Rabindranath Tagore lived consists of several buildings in a distinct architectural style.

KANKALITALA- The small rural town is located about 7 km from Shantiniketan. The drive, and if you prefer the walk, takes you through the beautiful landscape of semi urban India.

DEER PARK- About 3 km from the main campus is the Ballavpur forest. The forest shelters a naturally bred large family of deer. It is now known as the deer park. The beautiful park is the perfect example of the contrast between the man made university and nature crafted forest.

DAY 3: SHANTINIKETAN - KOLKATA

Day free for leisure and later, depart to Kolkata to catch your flight/train towards onward destination.
