About Gurugram
Gurgaon is one of the most highly developed Indian cities. It is one the NCR (National Capital Region) cities. This satellite city of Delhi is located in the Indian state of Haryana. It is the sixth biggest city in the state.

Gurugram gets its name from the Sanskrit words "Guru", meaning 'teacher', and "Gaon" or "Gram", meaning 'village'. Taken literally, it means the village of the teacher. The legendary teacher Dronacharya is said to have founded this city as a village. With time, it was ruled by several monarchs. After Independence, it eventually became a part of Haryana.

Gurugram - the Millennium city
With the turn of the millennium, Gurugram has established itself as a major industrial hub. It is known as the Millennium City. This highly developed city has a number of booming sectors, chief of which is the BPO. BPO or the Business Process Outsourcing sector employs thousands of young people in this city. An estimated 150,000 to 200,000 people work in call centres in this city. The Chief Minister of Haryana has gone on to declare Gurugram as the largest call centre hub in India. It is also said to be the biggest call centre hub in the world.

The BPO industry in Gurugram is the biggest in India. And it is growing at a rapid pace. The automobile industry of Gurugram is another big success story. Automobile manufacturing is a huge business in the city. Gurugram is home to a number of home-grown automobile companies. These include scooter manufacturers like Scooter India (HMSI) and Hero Honda, motorbike manufacturers like Honda Motor Cycle and car-makers like Maruti Suzuki.
