OVERVIEW- Labeled as The Little Lhasa of India, Dharamshala is the holy abode of the Tibetan charismatic leader Dalai Lama and houses the Tibetan government in exile. It is the headquarters of the Kangra district and set against the picturesque backdrop of Dhauladhar mountain range. The beautiful city is divided as the Upper Dharamshala and Lower Dharamshala. The city is surrounded by dense pine trees and Deodar forests. A nearby snowline with numerous streams and cool healthy atmosphere makes the surroundings very attractive. A busy bazaar town, Dharamshala has established itself as the travelers base camp, who come to explore the nearby mountains. The Kotwali Bazaar provides the entire colour and characteristic of a small town, which is mixed with the simple life style.

DHARAMSHALA- Situated in the picturesque Kangra valley and set against the Dhauladhar mountain range in Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala is an ideal retreat for nature lovers. The pristine environment with dense green cover consisting of Deodar and Pine trees provides a visual treat. Dharamshala is also the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh.

DAY 1: DELHI

Arrive in Delhi and later transfer to the hotel. Later enjoy full day city tour of Old Delhi & New Delhi visiting

RED FORT- This is a magnificent fort with beautiful artwork of red sandstone on the banks of river Yamuna. It is a huge complex of gardens and pavilions and marble palaces.

JAMA MASJID- This is the largest mosque in India, located opposite to the Red Fort, it was again the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan behind this architectural masterpiece.

RAJ GHAT- Built on the banks of the legendary Yamuna, which flows past New Delhi, Raj Ghat-the last resting place of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.

INDIA GATE- Built as a memorial to commemorate the 70,000 India soldiers killed in World War I, India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and completed in 1931. The green, velvety lawns at India Gate, particularly, are a popular evening and holiday rendezvous for young and old alike.

PRESIDENT'S HOUSE- New Delhi, centers around the Rashtrapati Bhawan. It is architecturally a very impressive building standing at a height, flowing down as it were to India Gate. 

HUMAYUN'S TOMB- The emperor's grieving widow, Haji Begum, built Humayun's Tomb the first mature example of Mughal architecture in India, in 1565 AD.

LAXMI NARAYAN TEMPLE- Also called the Birla Mandir it was built in 1938; the temple is an ideal introduction to some of the gods of the India pantheon.

LOTUS TEMPLE- The Bahai's Temple, is shaped like a lotus. It is an eye-catching edifice worth exploring. Built by the Bahai's community, it offers the visitor a serenity that pervades the temple and its artistic design.

QUTAB MINAR- It is among the tallest and famous towers in the world. Qutab Minar is famed as the highest brick minaret of the world, located amidst the lush greens of South Delhi.

DAY 2: DELHI - DHARAMSHALA

Drive to hill station of Dharamshala. Transfer to the hotel. 

In the evening rest after the long day drive enjoying the overlooking high mountains covered with silent snows and deep boulder strewn gorges.

DAY 3: DHARAMSHALA

Today visit The Little Lhasa of India- Dharamshala

DHARAMSHALA CRICKET STADIUM- Lying right in the lap of the beautiful natural backdrop of Dhauladhar Mountains, the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium is an unlikely but worthy tourist destination. This stadium is located at the height of 1457 meters above sea level and makes up for a mesmerizing view. 

ST. JOHNS CHURCH- The charming dressed- stone church of St. John in the wildness. It is the oldest built structure of Dharamshala. This neo-gothic church was built in 1852 and is one of the most important churches in Himachal Pradesh. 

DAL LAKE & NADI- Dal Lake is 11 km from lower Dharamshala and lies in between hills and deodar trees. This is a starting point for trekking and excursion, which is covered around the lake to make the walk memorable.

TRIUND- Triund is a 9-km trek away from Mcleodganj. It is situated at a great height and provides a mesmerizing view of the Moon Peak-Indera Pass. This is an ideal spot for picnics and the clean and pristine environment will surely rejuvenate your senses.

BHAGSUNATH- Close to fresh water springs; this ancient temple is 11 km from Dharamshala. It is a popular picnic spot and the famous slate quarries are close by.

DAY 4: DHARAMSHALA (DALAI LAMA TEMPLE TOUR)

Today visit the Mcleodganj often called the' Little Lhasa' at 1770 m; this is the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

TSUGLAGKHANG COMPLEX- This is the place where the Dalai Lama resides. This complex has a monastery, various stupas and temples, which will attract devotees from all over the world and serve tourists as well. Except for Dalai Lama's residence, every other part of the complex is open for tourists. 

DALAI LAMA TEMPLE COMPLEX- Replete with Tibetan culture, Dalai Lama Temple Complex also known as Tsuglakhang Temple is a politico- religious centre in Dharamsala. Ideal for peaceful meditation and religious rumination, the temple is full of lamas at all points of the day chanting on prayer wheels or beads. 

NAMGYAL MONAESTRY- Overlooking the mountain ranges of Dhauladhar, the Namgyal Monastery is situated within the Tsuglagkhang complex. This complex also is the proud home to the residence of Dalai Lama, among various other shrines, temples, bookstores, souvenir shops etc.

GYUTO MONASTERY- One of the oldest monasteries in the world famous for its teachings of Buddhism and Tantric meditation. Originally founded in 1474 in Tibet by Jetsun Kunga Dhondup, it was rebuilt in Dharamsala after the Chinese invasion in 1959. Even today you can see monks practicing ancient rituals including recital of Tantric texts such as Guhyasamaja and Chakrasamvara, inside this monastery. 

DAY 5: DHARAMSHALA - DELHI

Day free for leisure and later, drive back to Delhi to catch your flights towards onward destination.
