OVERVIEW- The ancient town of Tiruvarur is one of the important pilgrim centers in Tamil Nadu, lying at about 24 km from Nagapattinam and 56 km from Thanjavur. Flanked by the river Kaveri, Thiruvarur is a town rich in legend, history and tradition. It is one of the ancient heritage sites of India, evocative of the religio-socio-cultural history of the Tamil region during the 9th to 12th centuries. Thiruvarur is admired as one of the seven most sacred places dedicated to Lord Shiva.

CHENNAI- Chennai the fifth most populous city in India and the capital of Tamil Nadu. Chennai is situated on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal and was initially known as Madras. There are number of places of tourist interest in and around Bengaluru.

THIRUVARUR- Thiruvarur District is famous for its evergreen paddy fields and temples with sky-high towers. This town is situated in the southeast of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvarur lies adjacent to the Bay of Bengal. It is rich in lagoons and is close to the delta formed by the tributaries of the river Cauvery.

DAY 1: CHENNAI/BENGALURU- THIRUVARUR

Today morning drive towards Thiruvarur. Transfer to hotel. In the evening visit

THIRUVARUR CITY GARDEN- A garden cum park in the heart of the city, is one of the attractive locations in the holy city offering isolated time away from the bustling of the city. The city garden maintained clean and tidy is a perfect place to have entertainments and meetings.

DAY 2: THIRUVARUR

After breakfast visit the city

SRI THYAGARAJASWAMY TEMPLE- It is one of the most important religious places in South India. The presiding deity of the temple is of Somaskandar, another form of Lord Shiva is a vast temple complex, taking immense pride in its centuries' old history and tradition. The temple also has shrines dedicated to Vanmikanathar, Tyagaraja and the Kamalaamba. The Kamalalayam temple tank covers around 25 acres and is famous as one of the largest of its kind in the country.

SRI RAJAGOPALASWAMY TEMPLE- This temple, dedicated to great Rajagopalaswamy, believed to be a beautiful incarnation of Lord Krishna. 

THE NEELAMEGHAPERUMAL TEMPLE- This 10th Century temple built by the Kings of Chola Dynasty is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The main feature of the temple is its immense tower within which the sanctum of the temple is located.

THE KOTHANDA RAMAR TEMPLE- This temple is 20 centuries old, and is dedicated to Lord Rama and has a beautiful idol of the deity supporting magnificent crown.

SARASWATI TEMPLE- This temple is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati and located on the shores of River Arasilar.

SRI SRINIVASA PERUMAL TEMPLE- This temple dates back to 400 years and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of the Lord Srinivasa.

DAY 3: THIRUVARUR - CHENNAI/BENGALURU

Day free for leisure and later, drive back Chennai/Bengaluru to catch your flights/train towards onward destination.
