OVERVIEW- The fortified city of Junagadh is one of the most frequented spots in Gujarat. Lying at the foothills of Mount Girnar, the references of this ancient city can be traced back to the reign of Asoka. The 14 rock edifice outside the city wall bears evidence of it. It was a seat of the Mauryan and the Gupta dynasty and later on passed on to the Chudasama Rajputs, who ruled here from the 9th to the 15th century, until in the Middle ages, the Islamic rulers took over.  Among the Cities in Gujarat, Junagadh is also considered to be one of the most important Jain pilgrim points.

AHMEDABAD- It is the largest city in Gujarat, associated with the great thinker and freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi. It is an exclusive blend of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture. The city's prosperous and eventful past and present is embodied in its rich kaleidoscope of history, art and culture, rich architecture and imposing monuments. The city is a famous business hub and is well known for chemical and textile industries.

RAJKOT- Once the capital of the princely state of Saurashtra, Rajkot is now an important industrial city of the West Indian state of Gujarat. It is also popular as the place where Mahatma Gandhi had spent the initial years of his life and gained early education from a school. Home to some striking gardens, ashrams, lakes and temples, Rajkot is also quite popular for its handicraft items, jewelry market and special tie and dye or Bandhani, a beautiful cloth material. 

JAMNAGAR- It is called as the ‘Jewel of Kathiawad. It was a princely state of considerable importance and is rich in relics from the time of the Jadeja Rajput kings locally known as the Jam Sahibs. Adjacent to the Kutch region in northwestern Gujarat, Jamnagar is a very calm and quiet destination with temples, palaces, forest, Bird and Marine Sanctuaries. 

JUNAGADH- Junagadh is a town of historical importance. It is situated at the foot of the celebrated mount Girnar. The town junagadh derives its name from the old fortress situated in the uparkot (Citadel). It was once the capital of the Junagadh State under the Muslim rulers of Babi Nawabs. In Gujarati, `Junagadh' literally means an ancient fort. The Junagadh town is located at the foothills the sacred hill of Girnar and occupies a special place in the history of Gujarat.

DAY 1: AHMEDABAD/RAJKOT/JAMNAGAR - JUNAGADH

Today morning drive to Junagadh. Transfer to hotel. Evening free for leisure.

DAY 2: JUNAGADH

After breakfast, visit the city of Junagadh

DAMODAR KUND- This Kund is actually a bath tank which is located in the foot reign of Girnar Hill. This Kund is considered as a holy kund as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's garments are said to have dropped here. This kund also includes a temple called Damodarji Temple.

UPARKOT FORT- Uparkot Fort is situated at the bottom of the Girnar Hills. This fort was built by Chandragupta Maurya during the Nawabi Period in 319 BC. This fort was rebuilt again and again over time by various rulers. It was rebuilt by many kings over the centuries. This fort was deserted between 7th and 8th centuries.

JUNAGADH ZOO- Junagadh Zoo is very famous around the world because of Asiatic Lions. This Zoo was built in 1863 by the Nawab. This zoo is also the oldest zoo in Gujarat. This zoo was set up in order to save the Asiatic Lion from extinction.

ASHOKA'S ROCK EDICTS- This site is famous for the fourteen rock edicts of Emperor Ashoka. These edicts have been engraved out of a gigantic obstruct of stone outside the city. These rock edicts are inscribed in Pali language, which are as old as 263 BC.

AHMADPUR MANDVI BEACH- The Ahmedpur Mandvi Beach is one of the most wanted and popular beach in Gujarat. This beach is the most visited of the reign because of its clean water, fishing hamlets and colorful birds. This is a good place for some leisure time. One can enjoy various water sports and swimming.

Day free for leisure and later, drive back to Ahmedabad/Rajkot/Jamnagar to catch your flights/train towards onward destination.
